Introduction

A pig signaller is an essential tool in the oil and gas industry, primarily used to detect the position of a pig within a pipeline. When a pig passes the signaller, it triggers a response. For instance, a manual flag reset pig signaller indicates the pig’s passage by changing the flag direction, while an electronic signal pig signaller sends out an electronic signal.

Typically installed at expected pig passage points like the receiving end of the pipe, these signallers provide crucial information for monitoring pipeline conditions.  Regular use of pigs and pig signallers ensures the safe and efficient transportation of oil, gas, or other mediums, making them integral to pipeline inspections and upkeep.

Advantages

Firstly, this pig signaller is removable. It can be removed by using a special retriever that we provide.

Secondly, it features a uni-directional trigger. This is easier to drive compared to a bi-directional trigger as it is magnetically controlled. The operation of the uni-directional trigger isn’t affected by the pressure within the pipes. Hence, under the same pressure conditions, a uni-directional trigger is more likely to be activated than a bi-directional one.

Thirdly, the insertion depth of the pig signaler can be adjusted by 20mm. After the welding process, if any adjustments are necessary, the operator can fine-tune the pig signaller. This adaptability allows for more precise insertion depth into the pipe.

Lastly, this pig signaller employs a welded connection. Unlike flange-connected pig signallers that require a flange interface on the pipe, this model can be welded anywhere along the pipeline, offering more flexibility during installation. However, it’s important to ensure that the material of the welded base is compatible with the pipe material to facilitate successful welding.
